“Innovation and Ongoing Operations are always and inevitably in conflict”. This is so true and we have experienced this first hand during our tenure in EY creating, incubating and activating new services. Managing innovation, as Chris subtly puts across, is an art of finding ways to cut through these conflicts. Any enterprise is not “built for innovation” but are “built for ongoing operations” to act as performance engines with their own KPIs and metrics to measure against.
